Since 2002, zenon from COPA-DATA has been controlling and visualizing production at the Vigier gravel plant in Safnern. To maintain high operational safety and productivity, the company decided in 2011 to completely renew the system.

The upgrade included the implementation of the latest Saia controllers (PCD2.M5540 and PCD3.M5540) and a migration from Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit). The control system was updated accordingly.

André Sommer from grötzinger + rychard ag collaborated with SATOMEC AG, COPA-DATA’s Swiss distributor, to implement zenon 6.51. The system features direct coupling to Saia controllers, approximately 1,000 variables, and functions for recipe management, Message Control, and reporting.

The result: a modern, reliable, and future-ready production control system for Vigier.
