Heizwerk Gotthard AG operates a 7.5 MW woodchip heating plant in Andermatt, supplying more than 200 consumers – including the five-star hotel “The Chedi”. The project was designed by oeko energie ag and implemented by Automation Partner AG.
The goal was to ensure safe, efficient, and decentralized energy distribution. The system uses WAGO controllers with CoDeSys, directly connected via native zenon drivers – eliminating the need for third-party OPC components. This guarantees stability, simplicity, and high data integrity.
Seven zenon Supervisor Runtime licenses run on a 10 km fiber-optic network. Each sub-project acts autonomously as both server and client, enabling software-level redundancy without expensive hardware failover.
The zenon environment provides a detailed plant model with advanced alarm filtering, contextual help for operators, and comprehensive Chronological Event Lists. Consumption data are logged, archived, and analyzed using the integrated Report Viewer.
Othmar Zgraggen, CEO of oeko energie ag, sums up: “Our new control system offers high availability and real-time transparency of all local processes.”
With SATOMEC AG and COPA-DATA, Heizwerk Gotthard AG has realized a scalable, efficient, and sustainable solution for decentralized energy distribution.
