A. Vogel AG, based in Roggwil, Switzerland, produces premium herbal remedies. To expand capacity and modernize its processes, the company commissioned REY AUTOMATION AG to implement a new control system.

Using zenon from COPA-DATA, a comprehensive and GMP-compliant solution was realized — from recipe management to automated CIP cleaning. The platform ensures complete process documentation, adherence to ATEX safety standards, and simplified validation.

Two mixers (4,000 and 6,000 liters) combine plants with water and ethanol according to defined recipes. The mixture is then pressed and inertized with nitrogen to prevent ignition risks. The final CIP cycle ensures quick turnaround for the next batch while maintaining hygiene and quality.

zenon natively connects to SIMATIC S7-1515-2 PN controllers and the ET 200SP I/O system. Built-in modules such as Trend Analysis and Alarm/Event Lists with advanced filters allow clear monitoring and traceability.

A customized zenon dashboard created by REY AUTOMATION provides real-time insights into production, equipment, and CIP data. The system’s open architecture allows future SQL or SAP integration for vertical data consistency.
