Teracom TSM400-4-TH for temperature and humidity

The Teracom TSM400-4-TH measures temperature and relative humidity digitally and transmits the values via Modbus RTU over RS-485 to BMS, PLC and automation systems.

Digital temperature and humidity measurement for building automation

The Teracom TSM400-4-TH is a digital sensor for measuring temperature and relative humidity. The measured values are provided via Modbus RTU over RS-485. This makes the sensor suitable for use in building management systems, PLC environments and industrial automation systems.

Due to its design, the TSM400-4-TH is intended for wall mounting. The slim plastic enclosure can be mounted on standard flush-mounted or cavity wall boxes, provided the installation opening does not exceed 61 mm. Typical installation locations include offices, retail areas, server rooms, technical rooms and data centres.

Calibrated sensor with stable measured values

The TSM400-4-TH integrates sensing elements and signal processing in a digital measurement system. The output is fully calibrated. This supports high measurement quality and long-term stable acquisition of temperature and humidity.

The sensing elements are factory calibrated and require no recalibration during their service life. The accuracy of relative humidity is 3.0% RH. For applications in indoor air monitoring, facility management and technical infrastructures, this is an important factor for reproducible measured values.

Modbus RTU over RS-485 for simple integration

The sensor supports the Modbus RTU protocol, which is widely used in building automation and industrial automation. Communication takes place via the robust RS-485 interface. This allows the TSM400-4-TH to be integrated into existing systems with BMS, PLCs or third-party controllers.

Each sensor has a unique serial code. This allows multiple sensors to be operated on the same RS-485 bus. The communication parameters are adjustable and stored in non-volatile memory. Firmware updates can also be carried out via the interface.

Status indication and flexible parameterisation

An LED indicates the communication status of the sensor. This simplifies commissioning and supports on-site diagnostics. The configurable communication parameters make the sensor flexible to use, even where different system requirements or bus structures are present.

Typical applications

The Teracom TSM400-4-TH is suitable for applications where temperature and humidity must be monitored reliably. These include:

  • Temperature and humidity measurement in offices and commercial buildings
  • Indoor air quality monitoring
  • Building management systems and Building Management Systems
  • Server rooms, technical rooms and data centres
  • Industrial automation with Modbus RTU communication

Suitable for BMS, PLCs and third-party controllers

The sensor can be used with various Teracom devices and third-party controllers. Supported systems include the TCG140-4 4G LTE universal IO module, the TCW260 energy monitoring module, the TCG140 GSM-GPRS remote IO module and compatible third-party controllers.

Conclusion

The Teracom TSM400-4-TH is a functional solution for digital temperature and humidity monitoring in buildings and technical rooms. Modbus RTU over RS-485, factory-calibrated sensing elements, long-term stability and simple wall mounting make the sensor a suitable component for BMS, PLCs and building automation systems.
