When the profitability of a power plant depends on the continuous operation of an automated cleaning system, one thing is crucial: maximum availability. For Explosion Power GmbH, based in Lenzburg, Switzerland, monitoring its global installations was a major challenge.
The company operates around 400 Shock Pulse Generators in more than 20 countries. A Shock Pulse Generator is an online boiler cleaning system that generates automated pressure waves through the controlled combustion of pressurised gas mixtures. These shock pulses remove deposits from heat transfer surfaces and ensure efficient and continuous boiler cleaning.
The systems are used in a wide range of energy generation applications, including biomass power plants, coal-fired power plants, waste incineration facilities and filtration systems.
The Solution
For secure remote access and monitoring of its entire fleet, Explosion Power chose Secomea. A SiteManager 1139 was installed in each control cabinet. Communication is handled either via a SIM card using the mobile network or via the customer’s Internet connection.
The data exchanged through the SiteManager and LinkManager enables Explosion Power to continuously monitor the performance of its Shock Pulse Generators. This keeps power plant boilers clean and ensures long-term operational efficiency.
Customers benefit directly as well: by using Secomea, Explosion Power has been able to significantly reduce long-term maintenance and support costs.
The Secomea remote access solution was supplied by SATOMEC AG, Secomea’s distributor and partner in Switzerland. SATOMEC continues to support Explosion Power in the operation and use of the Secomea solution.
